Soon after, I set off and reach Metz relatively quickly – a beautiful city on the Moselle River. Antoine said snow is predicted for today- well it’s certainly freezing and the hailstones are getting bigger, I swear. I stop for some fast food and more blogging with wifi. Takes ages to upload photos (and weebly fails completely – lost two entire postings – very frustrating).
In Mohrange, I stop for a beer and refill of water, and to ask if there is camping nearby. No, comes the reply, it is out of the season, but there is a farmer here who has a bed you can share? Yes, very funny but I don’t think so. You will have to camp ‘sauvage’ then – I will indeed.
And that’s what I did: at the edge of a crop field, sheltered by some trees and next to a small stream. It’s an absolutely still, clear night with a sky strewn with twinkly stars. It’s bloody freezing, and I’m not surprised to see the tent is covered in ice the next morning.
