Day 25: July 27th - Presteigne to Mitchel Troy.

Took lots of photos of Suie and Dickie's lovely home before I set out on what looks like it'll be the longest day! I thought Presteigne was a little closer to Mitchel Troy (today's destination) than it actually is. But - here I am in Hereford after traversing some gorgeous countryside as well as A roads that fortunately haven't been too busy. Just 25 miles to go. Meanwhile I'm in my second cafe of the day. Earlier, I stopped in Kington, at the Lion Cafe - a community cafe running workshops for all ages (today was 'Manx' patchwork) - as well as serving all day breakfasts. Now I'm in a cafe called 'Saudade' - serving Portuguese custard tarts and the best coffee I've had in ages - so good, I've had two cups! I shall be buzzing along.

After stopping at the cafe and charging my battery ... i moved on to try and get to Liz and Owen's - google kept moving the goal posts on me! What started as a 49mile journey gradually extended to 59miles as the day wore on - along quiet back lanes, past ancient farms and beautiful churches. Cows and sheep in the fields and a few more red kites flying overhead. I kept in touch with Liz and when it looked like i was going tp arrive after 8 or 9pm - with about 12 miles to go, she decided to come and get me! I wasat Tretire Farm - with Tretire House Farm on the other side of a crossroads, having gone through Llanwarne and Pencoyd and numerous other little hamlets - i must have crossed into England from Wales and back several times - and saw the River Severn.

Liz turned up in around 10 mins - we managed to dismantle the bike and trailer and fit it all in her car! Miracles!

Cous cous and veggies for supper, with strawberries and yoghurt for pud. Liz and Owen were lovely hosts.

I walked over to Mitchel Troy's church which Liz has transformed into a community space. We locked it up for the night. They manage their local church and then Owen preaches at several local churches...
