I skirted Monmouth - cycle paths taking me safely under the dual carriageway, and then along the River Wye - stopped and watched swans, canoeists and a solitary seagull for 15 mins or so. Then through Redbrook - mooched around the graveyard - and Clearwell- where we sat on the grass by the castle entrance, opposite the church... and looked untidy. As we came into Lydney, I could see over the tops of houses all the way to the River Severn.
I realised i had to come down one hill into town and then UP the hill I could see opposite. Plenty of battery power though - so arrived around 1300hrs. We (Tina and I) chatted and knitted and then (after Ivan got home - he was cooking a Spanish supper for all of us) - Tina and I went and explored the woods - she grew up here so knows the woods intimately. Supper was fabulous - garlicky, shell fish pasta with salad, home made aoli, bread and a crisp white wine. Al fresco - summer finally arrived today.
