Had a wonderful time cycling across Burton Marshes - lots of egrets spotted - then along the River Dee. Skirted Chester.
Mabli ran a little but it was hot work (running) and cooler for m'lady in het carriage. I must admit, I'm very impressed with how relaxed she's become with new faces and places.
I'm now in North Wales with my old friend Fiona who I did my nurse training with 1982-84 at UCH! Her husband Martin is also being a wonderful host - and identified the bird of prey i spotted on coming down from Drumochter Pass as a honey buzzard. Yeah! Bigger than our buzzards on Dartmoor - but much smaller than a Golden Eagle. It has been great to catch up on so many years.
23rd July - Happy Anniversary to me and Steve! and croeso i Gymru -
I'm having a day off today - back on the road along the Welsh borders tomorrow...
Day off with Martin and Fiona - earlier they took me up Hope Mountain. This evening - fish and chips at Rhos, Colwyn Bay - then a post prandial stroll along the newly open, wide, sandy beach.
The beach is newly opened because the council have spent years shifting tonnes of sand to reform it.
Mabli was in her element stalking seabirds and running for the sheer joy of it.
