INTRODUCTION
Terri Bate spins pet fur into luscious yarn...
Terri is tutleymutley: textile artist, knitter, spinner, teacher, designer, painter, illustrator and cartoonist. She was born and still lives in Devon, UK (albeit having lived in Wisconsin, Wales and London in the in between years). She has worked on the buses and as a midwife, but her passion is knitting, yarn-making, painting, drawing and enthusing about colour and texture. She retired from the day (night?) job in 2012 to follow her dreams.. To date, this has included organising knitting retreats; designing knitting patterns; teaching beginning to advanced knitting; teaching spinning to beginners; demonstrating spinning and running watercolour workshops in schools and at local Fairs and Shows and running knitting and spinning clubs locally.
She now hangs out at her Local Yarn Store, The Dartmoor Wool Loft, in Moretonhampstead, running workshops, volunteering and can be booked for knitting 'agony aunt' sessions - proceeds from which go to help support Wray Valley Elfins (part of Exeter District Woodcraft Folk).
Terri has had several knitting patterns published and her artwork was to be found regularly on the back of the now defunct Yarnmaker magazine.
She returned from a solo round the world bicycle adventure in September 2017 - knitting and spinning all the way and contriving to meet with other textile enthusiasts en route. So fortunate as she certainly couldn't have done that so easily now - what with Covid and Brexit in the interim years!
Now she is at home again she is once more offering to turn your pet's fur/dog hair into yarn. Below is the softest, plushiest, floofiest ragdoll cat fur yarn being knitted into bedsocks. She likes to include a pet portrait gratis.
Terri is a one man band - it's all her own work. There is no AI involved - not in the answering (or composing) of emails, the artwork, the photography or the spinning and knitting. Not even in the building of this very untechy website (that was done with the help of weebly.com). Terri offers this service because she loves to do it and it gives her great satisfaction. There is no secretary, no minion that helps out. And Mabli her vecro sprollie dog is useless with her paws and a major distraction.
Gratuitous photo of the flying Mabli and Terri up at Honeybag Tor (and Rudy, her best pal and walk buddy sat on my lap) at the bottom of page.
